Local

METRO Local bus service comprises 22 fixed routes and four express routes located throughout Pulaski County that serve 9,500 to 10,000 riders on weekdays and cover 51,000 miles weekly. The bus system in central Arkansas was officially placed under the jurisdiction of Rock Region METRO in 1986, through an interlocal agreement among local jurisdictions. Before that, Metroplan operated the bus system, having stepped in to provide transit service when privately owned operators went out of business. Today, more than 100 Rock Region METRO operators drive the 58 buses in the fleet throughout the year, taking riders to their jobs, education, health care, shopping and other daily activities.
